Compensating Employees Who Perform Exempt and Non-Exempt Work

It is not uncommon for employees to seek opportunities to make money by picking up extra shifts at their current employer – even if those shifts have different duties or have different rates of pay. This raises questions regarding the proper treatment, classification, and compensation of employees performing both non-exempt and exempt work, as well as how to properly calculate pay for non-exempt employees in this situation.
